Description
This box contains three designs originally presented in Command magazine: Tet 68, Operation Solace, and Hamburger Hill. These games will be enhanced with incorporated errata and updated graphics.
Tet ’68 is a simulation of the 1968 Tet Offensive in Vietnam. The objective of the game is to show what happened during the campaign, how the U.S. and its allies, despite winning a military victory, were defeated psychologically and politically. Winner: 1992 Charles S. Roberts Best Post-World War II Board Game. Playing Time: 3 Hours.
Operation Solace is a ‘what-if’ game based on the preliminary Pentagon plans drawn up for a large raid (2-3 divisions) into the Hanoi area of North Vietnam in 1971. The objective of the operation was to have been the liberation of all the POWs being held in that area and the capture of as many North Vietnamese government officials as possible. These latter were then to be traded for any POWs still held. Playing Time: 2 Hours
Hamburger Hill: The Tactics of Futility is a recreation of the bloody assault by three battalions of the U.S. 101st Airborne Division (with some help from the South Vietnamese (ARVN) 1st Division) against two battalions of the North Vietnamese Army’s vaunted 29th Infantry Regiment dug in on a hill known as Dong Ap Bai, in the A Shau Valley of what was then South Vietnam. Playing Time: 2 Hours
